Frequently Asked Questions

01

What is Integrative Dialogue (ID)?

ID is a structured, collaborative partnership designed for personal growth, personal alignment, and emotional well-being. It combines tools from psychology, relationship coaching, and clinical hypnotherapy into a relaxed, conversational setting built around your real, everyday life.

02

How is ID different from traditional counseling?

Traditional psychotherapy operates within a medical framework focused treatment plans. ID is much less formal—there are no diagnostic labels, or rigid protocols. It is a flexible, non-diagnostic space focused on walking alongside you to achieve your personal goals.

03

Is ID a good fit for what I’m going through?

If you are feeling stuck, navigating stress, working through relationship or family issues, exploring identity, or simply looking for practical guidance in a low pressure, conversational format, ID is designed for you.

04

Is this a safe space for LGBTQ+, gender identity, and sexuality concerns?

Yes. Dr. Arbaugh is deeply committed to providing fully inclusive care. Whether you are navigating complex layers of sexuality and gender, or seeking support free of judgment, your identity, history, and relationships are treated with absolute dignity and respect.

05

What is Dr. Arbaugh’s professional background and experience?

Dr. Arbaugh holds a Ph.D. and has Over 30 years as a counselor and university educator training counselors in addition to teaching, coaching and refereeing sports. His approach balances rigorous academic and clinical understanding with a creative, real-world listening perspective.

06

What are the session fees?

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes, while Couples, Family, and extended Individual sessions are 90 minutes to allow time for discussion without feeling rushed.

  • $120 per 50-minute Individual Dialogue session.

  • $175 per 90-minute session for Couples, Families, or extended Individual Dialogue.

07

Do you accept health insurance?

No. Working outside of insurance companies ensures your sessions remain completely private, keeps diagnostic labels off your permanent medical record, and allows your care to be guided entirely by your personal needs rather than third-party rules.

08

What if I have financial hardship?

Dr. Arbaugh believes that support should be accessible. Just as communication is an ongoing process in sessions, rates can be adjusted collaboratively based on honest conversations regarding financial need or the need for more frequent visits. Reduced-rate arrangements are handled with complete trust and confidentiality.

09

What payment methods are accepted?

Cash, personal checks, and major credit cards are accepted at the time of service. Please note that a standard $3.00 processing fee applies to all credit card payments.

10

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice via phone (540) 487-1261 or email DrArbaugh@yahoo.com. Missed sessions without 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee, though exceptions exist for true emergencies and severe weather.
